The vast majority of my clients struggle with serious overwhelm. And it's definitely not hard to see why. Between algorithms, choosing the right platform, figuring out how to make your content look decent and then figuring out what to say...it's so easy to be overwhelmed to the point of inaction. So what to do?
Prioritize.
You can't market every service/product at once, you can't be on every platform at once and you can't say everything you want to say at once. The best way to get direction is to prioritize.
One great way to help you prioritize is to think about your goals. Download my FREE workbook here (or come to my Lunch & Learn next week!) to help with that. Setting your goal is a great first step in prioritizing your marketing actions. But what does this look like?
This is a very simple illustration but....let's say Jane has a small business selling t-shirts. She is still setting up her shop but she's ready to get the word out. Her goal would be very top-of-funnel - driving awareness. This means that her content would be very lifestyle-driven supported by details about her shop and offerings. She's going to post a lot of content with pictures and videos of what her t-shirts might look like, how the shop is coming along and what her story is (i.e. why she is opening a t-shirt shop).
Jane already spends a lot of time on Instagram so she is going to start there (she may stay there, too!).
Jane doesn't have a lot of technical expertise so she is just going to use her camera phone and post directly to Instagram without bothering with Canva or something similar.
Now Jane has enough direction to get her going for several weeks. See Jane post!
